Threat to ki’ll journalist, c’ase against 6 people including MP

A ca’se has been filed against Tangail-4 (Kalihati) MP Hasan Imam Khan Sohail Hazari and seven others for allegedly threatening to abduct and k’ill journalist Rashid Ahmed Abbasi, 55, of Kalihati Upazila in Tangail.

Former president of Kalihati Upazila Press Club Dainik Jabbadihi Pratikar Upazila representative Rashid Ahmed Abbasi filed the ca’se on Tuesday (August 18th).

The other accused in the ca’se are, Upazila Awami League vice-president Nagbari Union Pakutia village. Abdul Majid

Parrot (65) and Md. Dulal Hossain (50), said Auliabad village. Fazlul Haque (24) and Md. Abdul Quader (55), Bangra village flood (25) and Dhubulia Pathalia village. Shah Jalal alias Jamal (40).

Tangail Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Nusrat Jahan directed the officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station to investigate the ca’se.

Sources in the ca’se said that on the morning of July 25, MP Hasan Imam Khan Sohail Hazari called journalist Rashid Abbasi and asked him to go home. Later, journalist Rashid Abbasi went

to the MP’s house. As soon as he went home, the MP ordered his men to ki’ll Rashid and hide his body. At that time, the accused picked him up from the MP’s house and took him to the road

When the people around him came forward, they told him to leave the area. Otherwise, the accused entered the MP’s house threatening to ki’ll him and his family and hide his body. When Rashid Abbasi left immediately, his (Rashid Abbasi’s) house was attacked again at noon and vandalized.
